Summerside/Victoria on the River
Summerside is a recently developed neighbourhood in the southeast corner of the city. The houses in the neighbourhood are primarily single family detached homes built in the last decade. There are also a few townhouse complexes in the neighbourhood. There is a small commercial plaza at Commissioners Road and Highbury Ave., as well as a commercial area further west along Commissioners Road.
There are two large parks in Summerside. Carroll Park has tennis courts and a basketball court. Meadowgate Park has two play structures, a soccer field, and a spray pad with change room facilities. City Wide Sports Complex is located just north of the neighbourhood, and has two lighted baseball diamonds, two lighted artificial turf football/soccer fields, and a community garden. The Meadowlily Woods Environmentally Significant Area is also located just north of the neighbourhood and has many great nature trails and access to the Thames Valley Parkway across the historic Meadowlily Bridge.
There are two schools in Summerside, both of which are French first language, École élémentaire catholique Saint-Jean-de-Brébeuf and École secondaire Gabriel-Dumont. Additional schools in the area are Fairmont, Tweedsmuir, or Princess Elizabeth public schools, St. Francis Catholic Elementary School, and Clarke Road or Regina Mundi secondary schools.
